Alison Crump named Academic Dean of the College

Marianopolis is pleased to announce the appointment of Alison Crump as Academic Dean for a five-year term beginning August 17, 2026. The College’s Board of Governors ratified her appointment at its meeting on August 13.

“Alison emerged from a comprehensive search process as our overwhelming top choice,” says Director General Eric Lozowy. “She fully embodies the Marianopolis mission and values, having shown an unwavering commitment to pedagogical excellence and collaborative leadership. These qualities have endeared her to our community, and I am confident that she will continue to bring her drive, curiosity and intellectual depth to her new role.”

Alison Crump holds an MA in Second Language Education and a PhD in Educational Studies from McGill University. She taught at several colleges and at McGill, where she also served as an academic projects manager in graduate and postdoctoral studies before joining Marianopolis in 2018.

As the College’s Associate Dean, Programs for the last eight years, Ms. Crump piloted major academic program revisions and designed a new approach to program management grounded in consensus-based and data-informed decision-making. She also strengthened the College’s quality assurance system and played a key role in supporting teachers in meeting the obligations of the Charter of the French Language as it applies to English-language colleges. Serving as Interim Academic Dean since October 2025, she took on expanded responsibilities, including the administration of faculty departments, various services, and Academic Council.

Ms. Crump’s mandate begins at an important time for Marianopolis, as she will work closely with the newly appointed Director General to develop the College’s next strategic plan.

“Marianopolis is a close-knit community of passionate educators and lifelong learners,” she says. “My aim as Academic Dean is to ensure that members of our community can pursue academic excellence and realize their full potential within a motivating and supportive environment.”
