Last summer, I had an experience that changed me, thanks to the support of the Marianopolis community.
For years, my family hoped to send my younger sister to sleep-away camp, but we struggled to find someone who could accompany her to support her medical needs. This year, we finally had a chance to make it happen, if I could step in as her caregiver. It would mean giving up a summer job that would help finance my studies in pharmacology at McGill University.
That’s when I was fortunate enough to receive a bursary from the Marianopolis Millennium Foundation. The financial support gave me the freedom to be fully present for my sister. It allowed me to witness her being a child, laughing in nature, cheering so loudly she lost her voice, and bonding with friends who loved her fiercely. The experience also deepened my commitment to my studies, to one day being part of medical research that will help people like her.
This bursary was worth much more than financial aid. It was a gift of trust, compassion, and opportunity; a testament to our belief in others and to the authentic, caring spirit of the Marianopolis community.
I’m deeply grateful to the Marianopolis Millennium Foundation and to its supporters for giving me a life affirming opportunity. Your generosity can empower students to rise to challenges and grow into compassionate leaders. Your support can positively change lives – one student at a time.
