Excellence in Teaching Award

February 2026 – Marianopolis is proud to recognize Economics Professor Norma Vite-León as the 2026 recipient of the Excellence in Teaching Award.

Professor Norma Vite-León with Interim Academic Dean Alison Crump and Interim Director General Eric Lozowy.

Since joining Marianopolis in 2010, Prof. Vite-León’s unwavering commitment to students has motivated her to develop innovative projects that foster interdisciplinary learning, extracurricular engagement, and personal growth. She played an instrumental role in developing the Math and Finance Profile of the previous Social Science program, the new Social Science program, the Social Science Mentorship Program, and the student-led Marianopolis Investment Management Program (MIMP), including its Young Women in Finance initiative.

Students recognize Prof. Vite-León’s commitment to creating a learning environment that is supportive, inclusive, and motivating. “While she deeply cares about our success, she has this way of pushing us to reach higher levels and to see us achieve great things.” A participant in MIMP wrote, “knowing that she had my back – whether in putting ideas into action, navigating challenges, or building the program into something meaningful – was one of the defining aspects of my Marianopolis experience. Her generosity with her time, her guidance, and her belief in students’ potential set her apart as an educator.”

Each year since its creation in 2018, current and former students and colleagues nominate recipients for the College’s Excellence in Teaching Award. The award recognizes an exceptional Marianopolis teacher who embodies the Excellence in Teaching Profile, a framework that is unique in the college system and which supports Marianopolis teachers in their ongoing pursuit of excellence. Recipients receive province-wide recognition with a Mention d’honneur at the annual meeting of the Association québécoise de pédagogie collégiale.
