Five Marianopolis Student-Athletes Awarded Sport-Etudes Bursaries
May 8, 2025 – Five Marianopolis students were awarded national bursaries at the 2025 Célébration Sport-Études event earlier this month.
Hunter Wei (fencing), Lea Janevski (trampoline), Siyuan Cao (rhythmic gymnastics), Melody Yin (badminton) and Yuyang Chen (badminton) each received $2,000 in recognition of their outstanding academic and athletic achievements.
Melody Yin was also named a finalist for the Prix Alec Reid, which honours student-athletes in Quebec who demonstrate exceptional academic dedication and community involvement.
The students were accompanied at the awards banquet by Tanja Geurtsen, academic advisor for student-athletes. Her support, along with the College’s strong partnership with Alliance Sport-Études, plays a key role in helping student-athletes thrive both in their studies and in their sport.
Congratulations to Siyuan, Yuyang, Léa, Hunter, and Melody on this honour, and thank you to Tanja Geurtsen for her dedication to the College’s student-athletes.
