Marianopolis emphasizes teamwork, physical well-being and fair play. With a complement of physical education facilities and 11 intercollegiate teams and two club teams, the College offers a wealth of opportunities for sports, athletics and recreational activities.Teams, clubs and classes have at their disposal the College’s state-of-the-art sports complex and go to nearby Mount Royal and the Laurentians and Adirondacks for outdoor activities throughout the year.
The Marianopolis mascot is the Demon. Its namesake teams have been competing at the CEGEP level for a quarter of a century. Many of the coaches are former Demons. Marianopolis’ student-athletes are honoured in all-star teams and with champion banners such as the RSEQ’s Éthique Sportive.
Several of the College’s nearly 100 student clubs involve physical activity, such as badminton, dragon boat racing, dance, hip hop, martial arts, skiing, snowboarding and soccer.
One of the many ways in which Marianopolis students benefit from the College’s twice-a-week Universal Break, also called Activity Period, is by having the opportunity to participate in intramural sports. Every Marianopolis student is eligible to join or create a team and play in this popular program that combines athletics, inclusion and fair play.
From floor hockey, to soccer, basketball, volleyball and badminton, students have a variety of activities to choose from. Activity Period is also a time when students have access to the College’s indoor sports facilities and outdoor athletic fields. Come spring, students can participate in the annual McGill University Intramural Festival, in a friendly competition against other CEGEPs.
