 Annual General Meeting
Do you have questions concerning events that Congress organized over the year? Do you have suggestions for Congress concerning future activities? Do you have suggestions for next year's Congress?
On Tuesday May 1, 2012, Marianopolis Student Congress will be hosting its annual general meeting. All students, faculty and staff are welcome to come by and attend this informational event.

Mission for Vision is holding a BLIND-FOLD GAME during Activity Period!! Come and "see" (notice the pun) what it feels like to be blind! The Game (free of charge) will take place in the east courtyard of Marianopolis. In this short game you must find things, avoid obstacles, and listen for sounds....all while you're blind-folded! There will be prizes for participants and you can find some hidden prizes too :) Everyone is welcome to come any time during activity period on May 1st to play a round (an individual round should not take too long). Take a short break from your studying to enjoy the first day of May and learn about preventable blindness in developing countries!! The Health Club and UNICEF proudly present an Obstacle Relay Race during activity period with Congress's End of Year Barbecue. It will take place on the front lawn with the beautiful spring weather! Your teamwork, coordination, speed, and mental faculties will be tested as you undertake challenges in your teams of 4 people. Registration at Wayne's is now free!Questions? News You Need to Know

Final exams take place from May 7 to May 18, 2012.  Students may view their personal exam schedule by checking the Examination Schedules module in Omnivox. 

 

SUMMER COURSES – Students who need a summer course to graduate or to catch up must see an Academic Advisor to get a registration appointment for summer school.  Registration takes place on April 24 & 25 in omnivox, but you MUST HAVE AN APPOINTMENT!

 

Income tax receipts for tuition fees paid in 2011 (T2202A and Relevé 8) are now available in Omnivox.  All students, past and

present, must retrieve these receipts from Omnivox, they will

not be mailed out. 

 

OXFORD UNIVERSITY - An information session on Oxford University will be held at Marianopolis on Thursday, May 3 at 7:00 pm in the amphitheatre (D-120).  The session is open to all interested students and their parents.  Please register at:  www.ox.ac.uk/canadatour

Accounting Scholarship For $500 (Updated Information) - The Accounting Firm of RSM Richter Chamberland has recently changed its policy and, therefore, will only be granting one scholarship to a graduating student planning to study accounting at university. (It had been RSM's policy to grant two scholarships totalling $1,500.) For more information, please see Prof. Rudolph in B-303.

 

English Exit Exam workshop

If you are writing the English Exit Exam on May 16, come to this workshop to help you prepare. Learn strategies to help you do your best.

Graduation is taking place on June 14 and the deadline to confirm is May 7. Bring a $10.00 deposit and sign up at the Records Office, A 213.  Your deposit will be refunded after the ceremony.

 

R.O.S.I. Participants

All students who are participating in R.O.S.I. for this term are reminded, on the completion of your 60 hours, you must do your Self- Evaluation online by logging on the R.O.S.I. website found under Current Students, Services for Students. Join us on an Arts Trip to Vienna this summer with professors Rachel Levine and Nancy Berman from August 4-August 11th. Everyone is welcome to participate. Theatre Students presenting their annual Spring Production. This week the students in Theatre will be presenting a production of the tragicomedy THE MADWOMAN OF CHAILLOT, by Jean Giraudoux.  A perfect way to end the semester as a group of vagabonds, street people and madwomen take on the rich and powerful forces in Paris.

NATURE AWARENESS THROUGH HIKING ~ AUTUMN 2012

Are you interested in learning more about the great outdoors? Would you like to be able to identify trees, plants, animals and birds as you walk and hike in urban and nature settings? There are two second year Phys. Ed. courses offered next semester that promote nature awareness and an appreciation of local flora and fauna. Nature Hikes (PHE-103-05) includes two day trips (Mont St. Hilaire and Mont St. Bruno). In addition to the day hikes, the class will meet seven times over the fifteen week semester.  Urban Hikes (PHE-103- 06) introduces students to our municipal parks including Mount Royal, Agrignon, Visitation and Bois-de-Liesse. In addition to the five four-hour urban hikes, the class will meet four times for two hours over the remaining nine weeks. A visit to the Canadian Space Agency organized by Honours Science is open to science students in general. It takes place on the morning of May 4th (teacher-student day: no classes) just before the first week of finals. If interested, see details of the visit and sign up beside room I-317. Deadline to reserve your place is Thursday April 26th.

 

Comedy with a CaUSE!

CEGEP and University Students for the End (endcancer.ca/goto/cause2012) is a team of students and staff walking in the Montreal Weekend to End Women's Cancers, a 60-kilometre journey benefitting the Segal Cancer Centre at the Jewish General Hospital. To help reach our 40 000$ goal, we'll be selling tickets to a comedy show on May 19th at the ComedyNest (Pepsi Forum), with a possible Marianopolis grad as an opening act! Tickets are 20$ for adults and 15$ for students and are available at Wayne's (MIO Leehi Yona for more info). Support a great CaUSE all while having a great time! Your support has allowed us to raise over 29 000$ in just over a year and is very greatly appreciated.

 

 

THE 2012 CANADIAN CHEMISTRY CONTEST for CEGEP students

AN INVITATION Canadian Chemistry Olympiad (CCO) selection exam. The CCO Olympiad Selection Examination consists of Part A (multiple choice): 60 minutes and Part C: Free response problems, designed to be more challenging (90 minutes). Any student under twenty years of age in July, who has spent at least two years in a Canadian school, and who has not taken any chemistry courses for credit at university level may participate in the Canadian

Chemistry Olympiad. Based on their exam results, the top 10-15 students from across the country will be invited to the week-long

national selection camp, which takes place in late May or early June. The organizers will cover travel costs to and from the Camp and the cost of the stay. The Camp will end with the National Olympiad final examination, and the top four students will represent Canada at the international competition in July. These four will compete with other students from over 65 nations for gold, silver and bronze medals. For more info and registration, please contact Dr. A. Marianopolis Cycling is organizing this year’s edition of the intercollegiate Battle of the Bands on June 6 @ Café Campus :D There will be up to 5 different CEGEPs competing, with featured performance by ex-Marianopolis band, the "Blue Eyes", and special celebrity MC. The Learning Resources Centre is currently seeking tutors for its Peer Tutoring Service for the upcoming fall 2012 semester. Paid tutoring positions are available in English, French, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Quantitative Methods, Economics, West Civilization and Psychology.
