My activity is producing a profit, but I am donating the money to a cause.  Am I still eligible for ROSI?

Yes, fund-raising activities qualify.  However, you cannot personally receive any financial compensation for your involvement in order to be eligible.

I am receiving sponsorship or donations in order to fund my activity.  Is it still eligible?

Yes, as long as you are not personally benefiting from the funds that are being given to the activity.

I won a monetary prize for my activity.  Am I still eligible for ROSI?

Yes, as long as there is no expected, probable or guaranteed remuneration for your activity.

How many hours do I have to complete to be eligible for ROSI?

You must complete at least 60 hours of involvement per semester in your chosen field.

When do I have to complete my hours?

You must complete a minimum of 60 hours over a period of time not exceeding four months, and the hours must be completed during the academic year (for the purposes of ROSI, the academic year is August 1 to May 31st).  If your activity extends over more than one semester, you will receive recognition on your transcript for the semester in which you finish your hours.

I completed 40 hours of involvement last semester.  If I complete another 20 hours this semester, am I eligible for ROSI?

Maybe.  As long as the 60 hours are completed within a four month period, your activity may extend over two semesters.

I completed 60 hours of involvement before ROSI existed.  Am I still eligible?

Please see the ROSI Project Coordinator, Sharon Rankin, to discuss your individual situation (see contact information below).

I was involved in my activity in July.  Do those hours count?

No.  You must have spent at least 60 hours involved in your activity during the academic year.  For the purposes of ROSI, the academic year runs between August 1 and May 31.

I am applying to university.  How can I make sure ROSI appears on my transcript in time?

To make sure ROSI appears on your Fall transcript, you must submit your Self-Evaluation Form and Supervisor Tracking Form no later than the last day of class in December.  To make sure ROSI appears on your Winter transcript, you must submit these documents no later the last day of class in May.  If documentation is submitted after those dates, the mention will appear on the next printing of the transcript.

I want to make sure ROSI will be on my Fall transcript, but I won't be finished my 60 hours by then.  Can I still apply if I know I will finish them by the end of the semester?

No.  All your hours must be completed at the time that you submit your documentation.

I completed my hours in the Fall semester, but I only submitted them during the Winter semster; in which semester will ROSI appear on my transcript?

The ROSI designation will appear on your transcript according to the semester in which you completed the activity, even if you only submit your documentation the following semester.

What is the deadline for applying to ROSI?

There are several important deadlines to keep in mind to ensure that your ROSI application is accepted and processed without delay:

  • You may register for ROSI at any time during the academic year.  However, you must register for ROSI before you begin your activity; you cannot register after the activity has already been completed.
  • Hours must be completed over a period lasting not more than four months.  In other words, the deadline for completing your 60 hours is four months after you begin your activity.
  • After completing your hours, you have a maximum of three months to submit the self- and supervisor evaluation forms.  However, we recommend that you submit the forms as soon as possible after completing your activity.*
  • The mention will appear on your transcript for the term in which you finish your hours.

* Please note: for the mention to appear on the first printing of your academic transcript, all documentation must be submitted by the last day of class of the relevant term.  If the documentation is submitted later, your recognition will appear the next time your transcript is produced by the Registrar's Office.

Can I divide my hours between more than one field of involvement?

No.  You must complete at least 60 hours of involvement in an individual field to be eligible.  You can, however, be eligible for recognition in more than one field if you complete at least 60 hours of involvement two separate fields.

What if my activity falls into more than one category?

That's fine.  However, it will only count in one field.  For instance, if your activity falls into the Social/Community field as well as the Athletics field, you can list the activity under one category only, not both.

Can I divide my hours between several activities?

Yes, as long as the activities all fall under the same field of involvement.  For instance, writing for the school newspaper, playing a part in a theatrical production, and organizing an art exhibit all fall under the Cultural & Artistic field of involvement.

Can I receive recognition in the same field more than once?

Yes. A given field may be recognized twice during the duration of your studies at Marianopolis.

Can I receive recognition in more than one field?

Yes. You can receive recognition for a maximum of two fields per semester, but the documentation (Registration & Objectives Form, Self-Evaluation Form and Supervisor Tracking Form) must be submitted separately.  Please note that you must still complete at least 60 hours in each field.

My activity finished but I was only able to complete 40 hours.  Can I get partial credit for my involvement?

No.  You must complete 60 hours of involvement in order to be eligible.  Please note that ROSI will simply not appear on your transcript; it will never appear as "incomplete" or "failed".

Who can act as a Supervisor?

Your Supervisor should be someone who is in a position of authority within your activity and who can attest to your participation.  You should have regular contact with your Supervisor and he or she should be able to give an accurate description of your involvement.  Marianopolis students may not act as supervisors.

Remember that your Supervisor will have to complete the Supervisor Tracking Form, so be sure to choose someone who is familiar enough with you and your involvement to be able to fill out the form properly.  If you are unsure about who to choose as a Supervisor, you can discuss your options with the ROSI Project Coordinator, Sharon Rankin (see contact information below).

I can't find a Supervisor.  Am I still eligible for ROSI?

You must have a supervisor in order to be eligible.  If you are unable to find one, contact the ROSI Project Coordinator, Sharon Rankin (see contact information below).

I am participating in several different activities.  Do I need a Supervisor for each one?

Yes.  For each activity you participate in, must have your Supervisor fill out the Supervisor Tracking Form or else you will not receive recognition for your involvement.
