Annual Marianopolis Arts Trip

(Michael Sendbuehler)

See the great works of art you have read about, admire first hand the historic architecture illustrated in text books, confirm why you love the arts!

The annual Marianopolis Arts Trip takes students on a weekend visit to a North American arts mecca and introduces them to its cultural resources through museum visits, architectural tours and the opportunity to see plays and concerts. Recent trips have been to New York City and to Boston. Participation is voluntary and open to Marianopolis students in all programs. For photos from the October 2009 trip to Boston, please view the Marianopolis virtual photo gallery.

Be inspired to learn

“…visiting a city through art is an amazing and unique experience.”*

Our goals are to add to the learning experience at Marianopolis and to inspire students to become life-long learners. The Arts Trip complements the college curriculum by allowing students to acquire knowledge through personal experience, and by making this experience enjoyable. If you’re studying the arts, the trip will help to consolidate and build on what you’re learning in class.

The success of the arts trip as an enriching activity has been recognized by the Marianopolis Plan for Success, which generously funds the educational component, thus reducing the overall cost for students who choose to participate.

Make connections

“I had an absolutely wonderful time. It was very informative, interesting, and we had plenty of free time. It was a great opportunity to meet new people.”*

Looking to meet people who share your love of art and travel? As participants have consistently commented, the arts trip is a wonderful way to make connections with a community of people that you might not get to know otherwise because you aren’t in the same program. The trips also foster a sense of community between students and faculty members and between Marianopolis College and other institutions.
