SMOKING POLICY – Smoking is NOT PERMITTED within 9 meters of the building or in any one of the back courtyards. Anyone caught smoking in a non-smoking area will be fined. Terry Fox Humanitarian Award. The recipients of this award are selected for their dedication to the humanitarian ideals of Terry Fox, their volunteer experience, their courage in overcoming obstacles, their participation in sport, fitness and community service and their academic standing. THINK YOU’D BE A GOOD PEER TUTOR? The Learning Resources Centre is currently looking for Peer Tutors for the Winter 2010 semester. Paid tutoring positions are available in English, French, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Math (Arts), Math (Science), Quantitative Methods, Economics, West Civilisation (NEW) and Psychology (NEW). They will be addressing the issue of Water for the World and giving us practical tools to not only conserve water, but also to advocate for water rights. If you are interesting in learning more about this organization and its projects around the world, please drop by A-310 at 12:45.
The COMC (Canadian Open Mathematics Challenge) is taking place on Wednesday November 25 at 8:30 in room F 105. It is open to all College students, both years and any programme .The COMC is an important math competition as it is the prerequisite for a few invitational competitions taking place in the winter semester (APMO, CMO, USAMO,…). It is preferable though not compulsory to sign up in advance to ensure that will have enough copies. See the new math & science bulletin board at the corner of the A and B wings on the third floor to sign up and to get information on the topics covered as well as an address where to find previous contests with solutions. Vow to not talk, text, or go on Facebook for an entire day, school day, or even just Activity Period (this does not exempt you from class work!). You can also pick up a pledge sheet at Wayne's and ask your friends and family for their support. All donations go towards Free The Children. The Vow of Silence is part the campaign for the International Day of the Rights of the Child on November 20th. Beyond Kyoto: Dealing with Climate Change at the International Level I n room D-409, during Activity Period (12:45) – Open to Everyone! A talk by Frédéric Gagnon-Lebrun, Director of the Climate Change Office with ÉcoRessource Consultants ( www.ecoressources.com). Frédéric is an expert on climate change negotiations and policy measures aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions through international cooperation. He will enlighten us on the nature of international negotiations about Climate Change, highlighting the range of innovative solutions that have been proposed (such as cap-and-trade and the carbon credit market) as well as the key obstacles that stand in the way of achieving a global consensus on Climate Change.

The college community will mark Remembrance Day with a “MINUTE of SILENCE” at 11:00am. This is our opportunity to honour those who have sacrificed in the past, present and future. Their gifts to us must not go unnoticed. Please show your respect by maintaining silence and by wearing a poppy for this solemn moment in time. Poppies are available at Wayne’s counter(A-101), the Library, and the Secretariat (A-214).
