Cellular Visions: The Inner Life of a Cell
The Inner Life of a Cell, an eight-minute animation created in NewTek LightWave 3D and Adobe After Effects for Harvard biology students. Created by XVIVO, a scientific animation company near Hartford, CT, the animation illustrates unseen molecular mechanisms and the ones they trigger, specifically how white blood cells sense and respond to their surroundings and external stimuli. From the website: studiodaily.com.

Hybrid medical animations: Mitosis
Another excellent 3D animation demonstrating the phases of mitosis within a cell. The animation begins at pre-prophase, chromatin can be seen to condense into chromosomes which then move through the 4 mitotic phases. As the animation progresses notice also the disappearance and reappearance of nuclear membrane(s) and organelle movement during cytokinesis.

Calcium & Dairy
And here is an article on calcium and dairy: The new food guide, if it can escape the wrath and corruptive force of the Canadian Dairy Board, will likely be recommending alternative sources of calcium, and perhaps even removing its staus as a “food group” Many cultures do not consume large amounts of dairy and do not have significantly higher incidences of osteoporosis. Most of the cruciferous vegetables (members of the family Brassicaceae (e.g. Broccoli) are very high in Calcium as are almonds. Some studies have actually shown that too much dairy leaches calcium from bones because of its high protein and/or fat content.
