Reserve Policy Manual for Marianopolis Students
Circulation Policies
LOAN PERIODS -- Books from the Circulation Collection may be borrowed for 14 days. A maximum of 20 items may be borrowed at a time. Periodicals may be taken out of the Library to be photocopied, but they may not be borrowed overnight. Reserve materials are usually loaned out for 2 hours, although some books may be taken out overnight, or for 3 days, or for 7 days. Reference material may be taken out for 2 hours but can go out overnight with special permission from a reference librarian.
To borrow any material, students must present their College ID card at all times.
RENEWALS -- Books from the Circulating Collection may be renewed once for an extra two weeks; these renewals may be done at the Library (without the books in hand, as long as the student has his or her College ID), online via My Account, or by telephone at (514) 931-8792.
REQUESTS/HOLDS -- If students are unable to locate a book or periodical on our shelves, they may request a search at the Circulation Desk. Staff will search for the item and inform the student of the results. Students may also request that a book already on loan be placed on hold, so they are guaranteed to receive the book upon its return.

Reserve Collection
The Reserve Collection comprises books, journals, and other heavily-used material that Marianopolis College instructors put aside for their students. This collection also contains science solutions, assigned readings, and sample exams, classified by course and instructor. Some reserve material is available electronically on the Cyber Reserves. All of these materials are listed online. The Reserve Collection is shelved behind the Circulation Desk, and the loan periods range from 2-hours to 7-days.
Overnight Reserves
Many reserve books can be borrowed overnight starting at 4:00pm Monday to Thursday, and over the weekend starting at 2:30pm on Friday. They must be returned by 8:30am the following school day. Please note that we cannot loan out a reserve book when there is only one copy on the reserve shelves
Reference Assistance
Reference service is provided from 7:30 to 5:00, Monday through Friday. The librarians help students and Faculty with the Library catalogue and computer resources, provide research assistance, and answer questions about the Library, its policies and collections.
Photocopying
There are two photocopiers in the Photocopy Room on the Stack Floor of the Library. The cost of photocopying is $0.10/page.These machines do not accept change: they operate on a copy card system. Students pay a $1.00 deposit for a card at the beginning of the year. Money for copies can then be encoded electronically on this card, as needed throughout the year. Students add money to the card as they make copies. Students unsure of how to use a photocopier should ask one of the Library staff to give a demonstration.

A fine of $25.00 will be charged for each overdue item, and no other materials may be checked out until the fine is cleared.
What is Cyber Reserves?
- Cyber Reserves is a Web-based system for online access to articles, course notes, and other supplemental materials that would otherwise only be accessible in person at the library. Materials placed on reserve by faculty include: course syllabi, class notes, exams, and exercises.
- Access to Cyber Reserves is available only to current Marianopolis students. Cyber Reserves enables students to retrieve, view, and print a variety of course materials that their instructors have placed on reserve for their use during the term.
- We would like to recommend that all assignments be placed on cyber reserves only. Most of the teachers have tried this approach and it has proven to be quite successful. However, if paper copies are required, we would be happy to make them available to your students.
If you are submitting paper copies :
1) Please submit single sided copies of all of your assignments.
2) Please note that staples slow down processing.
If you are submitting Electronic files :
Please send your Word or PDF files via email to reserves@marianopolis.edu
Allow 24 hours for processing --- although we always try to scan immediately.
Also, to ensure that all assignments are put on the web for the weekend, on Fridays, please submit by 2:00 pm.
