French Monitoring

Students enrolled in the French courses FRE-100 and FRE-LBW may benefit from one-to-one sessions with French monitors. They receive an individualised program that best suits their needs and supplements class instruction.

Difficulties experienced by students who are enrolled in French Monitoring are numerous and vary greatly from one individual to another: comprehension of spoken and written French, pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, spelling, writing skills, etc.  For these students, monitoring is an extremely important part of their French course.  Each student must meet with a French monitor – a linguistics, pedagogy, or literature graduate student – for 7 hours over the term.  The tutor identifies the student’s difficulties, prepares and implements a program, and occasionally responds to specific requests from the student's French teacher.

To receive monitoring, current students should contact their French teachers.
