WE ARE A GUM-FREE AREA! NO GUM ALLOWED!!
Equipment Loans
  • Students borrowing any equipment must present a valid Marianopolis College ID card.
  • All equipment borrowed must be returned on time.
  • Bookings must be made in the name of the person who will be picking up the equipment even for a group project. No other member of the group will be permitted to take the equipment unless it is stated ahead of time.
  • Students are allowed to take certain items home overnight provided they have the proper permission form (which can be picked up at TLT).  This form must be signed by your teacher for which the item is needed (stating their name as well as their teacher’s, the name of the item, and the length of time required). These items are considered special loans and must be returned promptly the next day (8:00 a.m.).
  • Only faculty and staff (and other exceptions) have the privilege to book equipment during class time for an entire semester.
  • Equipment can be borrowed for up to 2 hours.

Any material kept overnight without special permission is subject to a $25.00 fine.
A fine of $25.00 will be charged to any individual who makes changes to the hardware
and/or software on any laptop.


Editing Studio (A-356)
  • The equipment is to be used for school projects only. 
Language lab (A-366)
  • The language lab is reserved for Modern Languages and English classes.
  • Labs may be used if the room is free.
Can-8 Lab (D-412)
  • To ensure a quiet place for the language students to concentrate, the following rules must be observed in the lab:
    • No group work
    • No talking
    • No food or drink
    • No cell phones
  • Any students in violation of these rules will be asked to leave the lab.
Music Tech Lab (A-101)
  • The music tech lab is reserved for Music Students only.  It is equipped with 6 imacs installed with music software such as Pro Tools,  Finale and Auralia.

Viewing room (D-418)
  • The viewing room is located in room D-418 and consists of one TV, VCR and DVD player. It may be used by a group of 6 or less people at a time. There is no food and/or drinks allowed in the viewing room at any time.
Computer Labs (I-412 and I-414)
  • Your valid Marianopolis ID card is required to use the computer labs.
  • In order to use a computer, you must obtain your user name and password from a student lab assistant.  The first time you log in, you will be prompted to change your password.  It must have a minimum of 6 characters with a combination of upper case letters, lower case letters and digits.  E.g. rg4P7a
  • You may save your work files in “My Documents” which is the same as the “P:” drive.  You can save documents, pictures and other files but it is forbidden to keep copyrighted music on the College’s network.  At the end of your Winter semester (June 2008) all files will be deleted.
  • Other drives are the T: drive where some teachers store their notes and other files they may want you to access, and the U: drive where all students, faculty and staff may save files to which they want to give others access.
  • Classes are often scheduled in Lab 1 and Lab 2.  Students may access the computer labs during this time however no printing will be permitted during lectures. 
Supplies
  • Supplies such as CD-Rs, DVD-Rs and blank cassettes are available through the purchasing department (Martine Couture).
  • Students must purchase these supplies at Student Services (A-101).
Copyright
  • Breaking copyright laws is the act of infringing on someone else’s work, be it a song that was illegally downloaded from the Internet or transferring information (like a movie clip) from one medium to another without paying or acquiring proper permission. Our equipment and software are not to be used in any way that would violate copyright laws. This includes using equipment to transfer software from one medium to another or showing materials to which the college has not acquired the viewing rights.
