Liberal Arts
The Liberal Arts Program is a structured historical survey of the writings and ideas that have shaped the modern world. It begins with a study of ancient Greek, Hebrew and Oriental texts in translation, and progresses through Medieval and Renaissance thought to the most influential ideas of the Twentieth Century. The core courses in the Liberal Arts program are linked so that you study a specific period in history from different perspectives, moving through time – from Ancient Civilization to the 20th Century – over your two years in the program.

Who Should Take It?
Liberal Arts students want to learn about the ideas and thoughts that help shape today's society. Our students have an interest and curiosity in the origins of these ideas as well as the relationships that link them — whether expressed in literature, history, philosophy, religion, or the arts.
- a preference for integrated learning in which instructors deliberately build on and reinforce material from other courses;
- a desire to participate in a cohesive community of learners with common goals and experiences, situated within a larger college community;
- a strong record of achievement and demonstrate superior writing skills.

Where Does It Lead?
The Liberal Arts program provides a solid academic base for university studies in the Arts and Social Sciences and it enables students to prepare for careers in such fields as Law, Government, Education, Business, and Communications. More importantly, the Liberal Arts program is based on the assumptions that a liberal education is a preparation for life and that learning is itself one of life's important pleasures.
