Information for International Students
Applying
What to Include in Your Application
International students must provide documentation which indicates an equivalent academic background to the Québec Diploma of Secondary Studies as well as the entrance prerequisites specified in this Viewbook.
In addition to the basic requirements, you must submit:
- an official copy of your entire high school record (report card)
- mid-year marks for the school year in progress
- a school profile detailing the school curriculum or accreditation, grading system including the grade scale if it is not included on your report card.
Applicants following U.S. High School Programs
Students following a U.S. high school program (whether in the United States or in another country) must be completing Grade 11 to be eligible to apply to Marianopolis College. The Québec Ministry of Education Equivalency Certificate is not required.
Other International Applicants
To be considered eligible for admission to Marianopolis, students attending high school outside Canada, must be in their final year of (non-technical) secondary studies.
Language Requirements
Proficiency in English
The language of instruction at Marianopolis is English. Students attending schools outside of Canada where English is not the primary language of instruction and/or who have studied in English at the secondary level for less than 3 years are required to submit TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or IELTS (International English Language Testing Systems) results. You may also submit an attestation from a recognized language school.
Proof that you have registered for this examination should be included with your application; the results should be forwarded directly by the testing institution to the Marianopolis College Admissions Office as soon as they become available.
Please consut the English Proficiency table to see which levels are required.
You may also be required to take the Marianopolis English Placement Test so that we may identify if you would benefit from some extra help.
Application Procedures
How to Apply
Students are encouraged to apply online by visiting our web site. Application kits are also available by contacting our Admissions Office.
Application Deadline
Fall admission - MARCH 1st
Note: It is preferable that students with international credentials submit their application by February 15th.
Late Applications
Applications postmarked or delivered after the deadline will be considered only after all regular applications have been reviewed and if space is still available within the College.
Evaluation of Applicants
The Admissions Committee reviews each application individually, carefully considering the following:
- your general overall average worked out on the basis of your grades in all academic high school courses, in particular your final results for Grades 10 and mid-term or final results for Grade 11
- your grades in each program-related and/or prerequisite course
- your performance in your English courses
Please take note that it may not be possible to consider grades and/or letters received after the March 1st deadline.
Notice of Decision
Notices of conditional acceptance are sent out at the end of March and throughout the month of April. Final acceptance is contingent upon successful completion of all entrance requirements, as well as applicable program prerequisites. Students studying outside Québec must submit an official copy of their final grades before the start of classes. The immigration documents of foreign students must also be in order to obtain final admission. The offer of admission to any accepted student who fails a course needed for CEGEP entrance or whose file is incomplete will be withdrawn.
