New for Students

new for students

Express Student Stations

A new express station has been added.  This new station can be found outside TLT (A-358).  Marianopolis is always trying to help students stay organized and connected throughout the day.  There are already four (4) express student stations - 2 outside the Library on the A-200 level and 2 outside the Library study area on the A-300 level.

Students can send a quick email, view their class schedule, check their MIOs and print assignments. As the name implies, these are express stations to be used accordingly; they are not intended for long-term research or extended social networking sessions. The suggested time limit for their use is five minutes.

New MacBooks for Student Borrowing

10 new MacBooks have been purchased for students to borrow.  Five are found in the Library and 5 are found in TLT  (A-358) at the circulation desks.   Other laptops which are available to borrow are several Netbooks and PC laptops for your every need:

  • Taking notes
  • Editing videos
  • Conducting research
  • Writing assignments

 Mac Lab News

The Macs in the Mac Lab (I-414) holds 36 computers.  These computers are configured to run both Mac OS X and Windows 7.  When OS X is running, you are presented with the option to boot into Windows 7 at the Login screen.  If the computer is already running Windows 7 when you get to it, restarting will give you the option to select OS X again.

When Logged into Macintosh OS X, you will not have easy access to your P drive.  You should save your work to a USB key, or to an online storage site.  You might want to check out www.dropbox.com where you can sign up for a free 2GB online storage.  Many other options are also available.

In OS X you will be able to print to the lab printers, but you will have to enter your username (ID number not your name) and password again.  If you have any trouble you are welcome to ask for help in I-411.
