Board of Directors
The Board of Directors of The Marianopolis Millennium Foundation is a volunteer group that meets quarterly to discuss and report on fundraising initiatives, grant funds to support various areas of the College, and manage donations and investment capital. The Directors for the 2008-2009 year are:
Jill de Villafranca: Chair, parent of Katie '98 & Christine '02 Kostiuk
Jill de Villafranca has been a director of the Foundation since 1999. She holds a B.A. in History from Goucher College in Baltimore and an M.B.A. from McGill University. She is an Adjunct Faculty Member at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY and teaches a capstone course in the M.B.A. program when it is offered online. Jill also manages the cardiology practice of Dr. David Kostiuk (her husband). As a community volunteer she has was a member of the Board of Governors at The Study School and chaired that board, as well as a member of The Study School Foundation board and the CAMMAC Foundation. She also volunteers her time with the annual Toy Tea to help collect holiday toys for the children of abused women in women’s shelters across the city.
Michael Livingston: Treasurer, parent of Paul '91 & Johanna '04
Michael Livingston has been a director of The Marianopolis Millennium Foundation since 2005 and also serves on the Board of Governors Finance & Audit Committee and the Moving hearts and minds Capital Campaign Cabinet. He holds a B.A.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Windsor as well as an M.B.A. from the University of Western Ontario. From 1969 until 1988, Michael was a financial and investment executive with corporations such as Steinberg Inc., CIBC and Laurentian Bank. Since 1988, he has operated his own strategic financial consultant firm, and for the past several years has also served as a lead-judge during the Concordia University’s John Molson School of Business International Case Competition. Michael is now enjoying retirement with his wife Judie Livingston, former Marianopolis English professor.
Janet Casey: Secretary
Janet Casey has been a director of the Foundation since its creation in 1999. She is a graduate of McGill University (B.A., B.C.L., LL.B.) and the University of Toronto (B.L.S.) and has been a member of the Barreau du Québec since 1985. Prior to her recent retirement, Janet was the Director of Student Recruitment and Training at the Montreal office of Borden Ladner Gervais, LLP. During her years of practice, she worked mainly with the not-for-profit sector and was a member of several boards including the Douglas Institute for Mental Health and The Salvation Army.
Robert Berger: parent of Jonathan '10
Robert Berger has been a director of the Foundation since 2005 and also served on the Moving hearts and minds Capital Campaign Cabinet. Robert holds a Bachelor of Arts (1972) and a Bachelor of Civil Law (1975) from McGill University. He began his career by practicing law from with Johnston, Heenan & Blaikie (now Heenan Blaikie), having been called to the Barreau du Québec in 1976. From 1979 to 1981, Robert was Executive VP, CEO and Secretary-Treasurer, of the Montréal Alouettes Football Club Inc. After more than 25 years as Principal in several privately held real estate firms or ventures, he is now President & CEO of Investus Real Estate Inc. Robert has been actively involved with many community organizations over the years, including The Priory School Foundation (he is the current Chairman), The Study School and its Foundation; Maccabi Canada; Citizens Together; Westmount-Ville-Marie Liberal Association; St. Henri-Westmount Liberal Association; Federation CJA; Temple Emanu-el Beth Sholom; and Les Amis Canadiens de l’Alliance Universelle Israélite.
Liliane Comeau '69: retired faculty member, parent of Caroline '98
Liliane Hauschild Comeau '69 is a new member of the Foundation this year. She holds a B.A from Marianopolis College and an M.A. from McGill University. From 1973 until her retirement in 2008 she was a member of the Faculty at Marianopolis College where she taught German, French Language and Literature and the Humanities. From 1980 to 1986 she was Chair of the Modern Languages Department. Throughout the years she has served on every standing committee at the College and numerous ad-hoc ones. She is presently enjoying the first few months of her retirement with her new grandson (son of Caroline Comeau '98) yet remains committed to Marianopolis and its continued reputation of excellence.
David Gameroff '79
David Gameroff has been a director of the Foundation since 2005. He holds a B.A. Lit from Brown University and an LL.B. and M.B.A. from McGill University. Following work as an attorney in Toronto, David returned to Montreal and formed a real estate development firm. He has been involved in various aspects of commercial and industrial real estate development and management in Canada and the United States for the past twenty years. David serves as a board member on several charitable institutions, and is also a Cabinet member with the Moving hearts and minds Capital Campaign. He is married to Dr. Brenda Rosenzweig ’89 and together they have three young children.
Carol Rossy Malouf '79: parent of Patrick '05
Carol Rossy Malouf has been a director of the Foundation since the spring of 2008. She is a graduate of The Sacred Heart School, Marianopolis College and Concordia University, and holds a Bachelor of Commerce with major in Finance and Marketing. From 1985 to 2001, she and her husband owned and operated Rockland Sport, an indoor tennis, squash and fitness club located in Ville Saint-Laurent. She is married to Peter Malouf, a Director on the Marianopolis Board of Governors since 2005, and they are the proud parents of 5 children.
Jennifer Marsan '03, Co-President of the Marianopolis Alumni Association
Jennifer Marsan is a new member of the Foundation this year, but has been involved with Marianopolis College through the Marianopolis Alumni Association since 2004. Jennifer has been Co-President of the Association for the past two years. She holds a Bachelor's in Actuarial Mathematics with a Minor in Business from Concordia University, and is currently working towards obtaining her actuarial title.
Véronique Monet '84
Véronique Monet is a new member of the Foundation this year and has also served on the Moving hearts and minds Capital Campaign Cabinet. Her involvement at Marianopolis over the past year is the result of a long relationship with the CND, the school, and the building. As a child, Véronique attended kindergarten on this site when it was home to L'Institut Pédagogique, before studying at Villa Maria (French sector) for eleven years. She was part of the last class to attend elementary school at that institution. She obtained a Bachelor's degree in Sociology (honours) from McGill University, before completing the Canadian Securities Course and earning her financial planning designation. Véronique is currently a Private Banker at the Royal Bank of Canada, Wealth Management division where she has worked for seventeen years. As an active member of her community, she and her husband Capt. Bruce Campbell ’84 are involved in a number of causes involving wildlife and environmental preservation.
Amin Noorani '85
Amin Noorani is a new member of the Foundation this year, after having participated in this fall’s Strategic Planning workshops. He earned his Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting/MIS and a Graduate Diploma in Public Accountancy from McGill University and received his CA designation in 1993. Amin has worked with some of North America’s most well-respected companies, including Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton, Abitibi Consolidated, GE Capital and CAE. He is currently an Executive Recruiter and recruits primarily for the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) where he has worked for over 3 years. He is involved in recruiting for mid-management and senior level positions with a focus on candidates from North America. Amin is a member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Order of Chartered Accountants of Quebec. He is also a member of the University Club of Montreal. As a community volunteer, he is a member of the Alumni Executive and member of the Corporation of Lower Canada College. Amin participates annually in the World Partnership Walk held in conjunction with the Aga Khan Foundation Canada.
