The Board of Directors of The Marianopolis Millennium Foundation is a volunteer group that meets quarterly to discuss and report on fundraising initiatives, grant funds to support various areas of the College, and manage donations and investment capital. The Directors for the 2009-2010 year are:
Jill de Villafranca: Chair, parent of Katie '98 & Christine '02 Kostiuk
Jill de Villafranca has been a director of the Foundation since 1999. She holds a B.A. in History from Goucher College in Baltimore and an M.B.A. from McGill University. She is an Adjunct Faculty Member at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY and teaches an online capstone course in the M.B.A. program. Jill also manages the cardiology practice of her husband, Dr. David Kostiuk. As a community volunteer she has was a member of the Board of Governors at The Study School and chaired that board, as well as a member of The Study School Foundation board and the CAMMAC Foundation. She also volunteers her time with the annual Toy Tea to help collect holiday toys for the children of abused women in women’s shelters across the city.
Dominique Monet: Secretary
Dominique Monet is a new member of the Foundation this year, replacing long-standing member Janet Casey as secretary. Dominique is leader of the National Labour, Employment and Human Rights practice group at Fasken Martineau, with particular expertise in issues related to corporate governance, pension funds and benefits. He is also a member of the Advisory Committee for the Régie des rentes du Québec. After earning his B.C.L in 1983 and his L.L.B in 1984 from McGill University, Dominique was called to the Quebec Bar in 1985 and more recently, the Ontario Bar in 2009. He is the brother of fellow Foundation member, Véronique Monet.
Michael Livingston: Treasurer, parent of Paul '91 and Johanna '04
Michael Livingston has been a director of The Marianopolis Millennium Foundation since 2005 and also serves on the Board of Governors Finance & Audit Committee. He holds a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Windsor as well as an M.B.A. from the University of Western Ontario. Michael was a financial and investment executive with corporations such as Steinberg Inc., CIBC and Laurentian Bank before operating his own strategic financial consultant firm in 1988. He has been a long-standing lead judge during Concordia University’s John Molson School of Business International Case Competition. Michael is now enjoying retirement with his wife Judie Livingston, former Marianopolis English professor.
Liliane Comeau '69: retired faculty member, parent of Caroline '98
Liliane Hauschild Comeau '69 holds a B.A from Marianopolis College and an M.A. from McGill University. From 1973 until her retirement in 2008 she was a member of the Faculty at Marianopolis College where she taught German, French Language and Literature and the Humanities. From 1980 to 1986 she was Chair of the Modern Languages Department. Throughout the years she has served on every standing committee at the College and numerous ad-hoc ones. She is presently enjoying retirement with her new grandson (son of Caroline Comeau '98) and remains committed to Marianopolis and its continued reputation of excellence.
David Gameroff '79
David Gameroff has been a director of the Foundation since 2005. He holds a B.A. Lit from Brown University and an L.L.B. and M.B.A. from McGill University. Following work as an attorney in Toronto, David returned to Montreal and formed a real estate development firm. He has been involved in various aspects of commercial and industrial real estate development and management in Canada and the United States for the past twenty years. David serves as a board member on several charitable institutions, and is also a Cabinet member with the Moving hearts and minds Capital Campaign. He is married to Dr. Brenda Rosenzweig ’89 and together they have three young children.
Helen Law: parent of Matthew '04, Lawrence '07 and Tabia '09 Lau
Helen Law is a new member of the Foundation this year, after seeing all three of her children graduate from Marianopolis in recent years. Helen earned a Bachelor of Commerce from McGill University in 1981 and was designated a Chartered Accountant 3 years later. She is currently partner of Law & Wong CA, offering accounting, auditing and taxation services to small and medium sized businesses. She is a member of the Federation of Chinese Canadian Professionals and recently completed a term as President of the Montreal Chinese Hospital Foundation.
Véronique Monet '84
Véronique Monet's volunteer involvement at Marianopolis is the result of a long relationship with the CND, the school, and the building. As a child, Véronique attended kindergarten on this site when it was home to L'Institut Pédagogique, before studying at Villa Maria (French sector) for eleven years. She was part of the last class to attend elementary school at that institution. She obtained a Bachelor's degree in Sociology (honours) from McGill University, before completing the Canadian Securities Course and earning her financial planning designation. Véronique is currently a Private Banker at the Royal Bank of Canada, Wealth Management division where she has worked for seventeen years. As an active member of her community, she and her husband Capt. Bruce Campbell ’84 are involved in a number of causes involving wildlife and environmental preservation.
Amin Noorani '85
After graduating from Marianopolis, Amin Noorani earned his Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting/MIS and a Graduate Diploma in Public Accountancy from McGill University and received his CA designation in 1993. Amin has worked with some of North America’s most well-respected companies, including Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton, Abitibi Consolidated, GE Capital and CAE. He is currently an Executive Recruiter and recruits primarily for the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) where he has worked for over 3 years. Amin is a member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Order of Chartered Accountants of Quebec. As a community volunteer, he is involved with Lower Canada College and participates annually in the World Partnership Walk held in conjunction with the Aga Khan Foundation Canada.
Carol Rossy Malouf '79: parent of Patrick '05
Carol Rossy Malouf has been a director of the Foundation since the spring of 2008. She is a graduate of The Sacred Heart School, Marianopolis College and Concordia University, and holds a Bachelor of Commerce with major in Finance and Marketing. From 1985 to 2001, she and her husband owned and operated Rockland Sport, an indoor tennis, squash and fitness club located in Ville Saint-Laurent. She is married to Peter Malouf, a Director on the Marianopolis Board of Governors since 2005, and they are the proud parents of 5 children.
Eric van Eyken '02
Eric van Eyken joins the Foundation this year as a representative from the Marianopolis Alumni Association. A graduate of the College's Liberal Arts program, Eric went on to earn a B.A in Economics and Political Science in 2005, followed by a B.C.L. and L.L.B. in 2009 from McGill University. He has been an avid supporter of student extra-curricular life and an active participant in all levels of the Quebec student movement since his time at Marianopolis. He was recently chairperson of the McGill Daily newspapers and a legal resource person to youth at Dans la Rue. He is pursuing a legal career at the Toronto office of Ogilvy Renault.
