Advanced Placement

Students who have been admitted to the college and who have covered course material equivalent to the content of a Mathematics or a Science course in the Science program may apply for advanced placement.

If the course in question is a diploma requirement, in order to obtain diploma credits for the course the student will be asked to write an examination set by the college and obtain a minimum grade of 75%. For science courses involving a lab component there would have to be an assessment of the lab background, and most likely a lab exam will also have to be passed.
Advanced placement exams are normally written either in June, before beginning the college program, or during regular exam sessions at the college in December and May. A small examination fee is charged.

Application for advanced placement exams can be submitted during the May registration or at a later stage by contacting the department chairs. Course outlines and textbook references (as well as a sample exam, when available) may also be obtained.
