Honours Commerce
Who can apply?
If you’re academically strong, we encourage you to apply for acceptance into Honours Commerce. You will be challenged, but you will also be recognized with a special certificate that attests to your hard work and achievement. Simply fill out the Application Form and include it with your Marianopolis application. You can also apply to Honours Commerce after you’ve completed your first semester at Marianopolis.
The Honours Commerce Certificate is granted to those students who have enrolled in Honours,
maintained the required marks and completed the curricular and extracurricular requirements.
Curricular requirements:
You must complete the following five courses:
Administration 913 (Fundamentals of Business),
Mathematics 103 (Calculus I),
Mathematics 203 (Calculus II),
Mathematics 105 (Linear Algebra), and
MEQ 128 (Business Case Study).
You must also complete at least one of the following courses:
Administration 123 (Marketing),
Administration 431 (Management),
Administration 999 (Accounting),
Economics 921 (Microeconomics),
Economics 924 (International Economics),
Psychology 911 (Industrial and Organizational Psychology).
Honours students will take up to three courses as a group: one introductory-level course and one or two upper level courses.
Extracurricular requirements:
As an Honours Commerce student, you must complete extracurricular requirements such as participating in a stock market competition and attending guest lectures. If you are planning to pursue accounting at university, you will also be eligible to apply to a firm of chartered accountants for a university scholarship.
