Religious Studies

Despite the modernization and secularization of the Western world, Religious Studies continues to prove itself as vital for understanding our own society and those of our neighbors. Indeed, after the tragedy of 9/11, interest in Religious Studies has experienced an unprecedented surge. Classrooms and departments all over North America are overflowing with students seeking to understand the religious impulse and its history. At Marianopolis College, students have the opportunity to explore various religions academically. We offer courses in Hinduism & Buddhism, on Mysticism, on the scriptures of Judaism, Christianity and Islam, and we provide an introductory course that surveys all of these religions through the theme of death and dying. Through these courses, students have the space to freely explore the layers, texture, history and variety of the religious experience, and thus will be better equipped to understand their surroundings, and hopefully themselves.
