Political Science
Political Science analyzes the struggle for power and authority within society. The political science courses at Marianopolis are concerned with the question, "How can the political process be used to solve world, national and local problems?"
Students in Social Science and Commerce at Marianopolis may select International Relations as one of their introductory level courses, and can continue in the upper level with Understanding Power. Political Science courses are associated with the various Social Science themes, and students in other programs may include a political sciences course as part of their complementary block.

In addition to the above courses, Politics in Quebec and Canada, and Modern Political Ideas may be among the political science course offerings on occasion. Students who are interested in studying political science may also be interested in some of the humanities courses (part of the General Education Component) that are taught by political scientists and have a political science orientation. Courses in political science help prepare students for university studies and careers in areas such as political science, public administration, law, journalism, urban studies, research and teaching, civil service, and politics. Studies in political science make students aware of the potential of, and obstacles to, their own participation in the political process. With this awareness citizens may have some influence on the many ways in which politics affect their daily lives.
