Methodology

Methodology is the study of the methods used to conduct research. The required methodology courses at Marianopolis are interdisciplinary, providing the student with an understanding of the full range of research methods and techniques used by researchers in all of the various social science disciplines. All three courses involve a combination of theoretical and practical work, and students are provided with the opportunity to get practical, hands-on experience at doing research both individually and as part of a research team.

Social Science and Commerce students at Marianopolis must take all three of the required Methodology courses below. These courses are not available to students in other academic programs.

These required courses in methodology provide students with knowledge and skills about research that prepare them for university studies in all fields of study that are associated with the Social Science and Commerce programs.

Methodology courses also make students more able to look critically at opinion polls, graphs, statistics and other research findings that they are faced with in their daily personal and professional lives, and thereby help them to be more able to make well-informed decisions in these areas.
