Geography
Geography overlaps the traditional boundaries of the physical and social sciences. It is an integrative field of knowledge which deals with the study of the world's physical environment, man-environment relationships, and resulting spatial patterns, distribution and interactions. Current areas of particular interest in geographic research include: natural resources and management, man-ecological systems, population problems, economic development, regional inequalities and social justice, and urban and regional planning.
Students in the Social Science and Commerce program at Marianopolis may select World Geography as one of their introductory level courses, and may then continue in upper level courses, making geography one of their chosen disciplines. Geography is associated with the various Social Sciences themes, and students in other programs may also take geography as part of their complementary block.

In addition to the above courses, Regional Geography and Geography of Tourism may be among the geography course offerings on occasion.
Courses in geography help prepare students for university studies in the earth sciences and social sciences, including meteorology, environmental science, geography, anthropology and geographic information systems (GIS). Geographers enter careers in such fields as satellite imagery interpretation or GIS, environmental assessment, urban planning, pollution abatement technology, oil and gas industries, and aerospace.
